CRANBROOK, B.C. - The Medicine Hat Tigers edged the Kootenay Ice 2-1 in Western Hockey League action Friday night.
Joey Frazer and Wacey Hamilton scored for Medicine Hat (37-23-8).
Jesse Ismond replied for Kootenay (40-23-5).
Tigers opened the scoring as Tomas Kundratek's point shot was stopped by the Ice's Todd Mathews but the rebound found a wide open Frazer who scored on a wrist shot high on the stick side.
Kootenay tied the game midway through the period as Matt Fraser skated deep in Medicine Hat's zone and fed a wide open Ismond in the slot and his one time wrist shot beat the Tiger goalie on the glove side.
Tigers got the only goal of the second period with the clubs skating 4-on-4. Hamilton got a long wrist shot on net but was free to pick up the rebound and chipped it in for the 2-1 lead.
