Hamilton blanks Texas to lead 3-2 in AHL West final @NHL
Hamilton moved within one win of the Calder Cup Final as Curtis Sanford stopped all 23 shots he faced to lead the visiting Bulldogs to a 3-0 win over the Texas Stars in Game 5 of the AHL West finals on Saturday night.

Sanford rebounded from back-to-back overtime losses with his second shutout of this year’s postseason. The Montreal Canadiens’ top farm club can earn a trip to the final with a win Monday night back in Hamilton.

Ryan Russell provided all the offense Sanford would need when he scored on a power-play 13:22 into the game, Mike Glumac scored early in the second period and David Desharnais completed the scoring at 15:33.
Texas, the top farm team of the Dallas Stars, had 10 shots in the third period but couldn’t beat Sanford, a former member of the St. Louis Blues and Vancouver Canucks.
With his fifth multiple-point performance of the postseason, Desharnais extended his scoring streak to seven games (5-6-11) and moved into a three-way tie for second in the AHL with 21 points (9-12-21) in 17 playoff games overall.

Texas suffered just its second loss in eight games at Cedar Park Center in Austin this postseason, while the Bulldogs improved to 4-5 on the road.
