WINDSOR, Ont. - Taylor Hall's league-leading 24th goal of the season on a short-handed effort was the game winner as the Windsor Spitfires beat the Sarnia Sting 4-1 Thursday in Ontario Hockey League action.
Andrew Engelage made 28 saves in picking up his 30th win of the season. The overage netminder became just the fourth goalie in Windsor's 34-season franchise history to reach 30 wins.
After a scoreless first period that saw the Spitfires outshoot the Sting 16-8, Windsor (34-5-0-1) opened a three-goal lead on markers from Dale Mitchell, Hall and Justin Shugg.
Jamie Arniel scored on a Sarnia power play in the third period to end Engelage's shutout bid.
Andrei Loktionov capped the scoring with Windsor's fourth goal of the game.
Dan Spence made 35 saves, many of them spectacular, while taking the loss in goal for Sarnia (19-18-2-2).
The game marked the debut in a Windsor uniform of Josh Unice, Scott Timmins and Ben Shutron, who were acquired a day earlier in a blockbuster trade that saw goaltender Brandon Maxwell, left-winger Jacob Lalonde and three draft picks head to the Kitchener Rangers.
