Hackett's 36-save performance lifts Plymouth past Owen Sound 2-1

OWEN SOUND, Ont. - Matt Hackett stopped 36 shots as the Plymouth Whalers held on to beat the Owen Sound Attack 2-1 in Ontario Hockey League action Wednesday night.

Joe Gaynor's goal 6:43 into the second period was the game winner, while AJ Jenks added a first-period power-play goal to pace the Whalers (15-14-3-0), who have won two straight.

Andrew Wilkins' 10th goal of the season late in the second period was the lone offence for the Attack (13-13-4-3), who saw their two-game winning streak come to an end.

Owen Sound netminder Scott Stajcer made 26 saves in defeat.
