Habs-Wings on NHL Network @NHL
A visit by the Montreal Canadiens to Detroit used to be a fixture on the NHL schedule -- in the Original Six days, the Habs came to the Motor City seven times a season. These days, a visit by Montreal is a rarity -- it hasn't happened since Nov. 26. 2008 -- so Friday night's game at Joe Louis Arena figures to be special.

The NHL Network, CBC and RDS will all air the game, which begins at 7 p.m. ET.

The Canadiens-Red Wings game is the first of six on Friday's NHL schedule.

At 7:30, the New Jersey Devils, coming off a 2-1 loss at Pittsburgh on Monday, will try to break out of their slump when they visit Ottawa, which lost 3-2 to the New York Rangers at home on Thursday. Also, Colorado continues its swing through the Southeast Division with a visit to Atlanta. The Thrashers have been off since Monday's 3-2 OT win against Nashville, while Colorado has had a two-day break after Tuesday's 4-3 OT loss at Florida.

An hour later, Carolina visits Dallas -- the Hurricanes will be looking to avenge a 4-1 loss to the Stars in Raleigh on Nov. 29. A half-hour later, Tampa Bay continues its swing through Western Canada with a stop in Edmonton. The Lightning lost 4-2 at Calgary on Tuesday, the same night the Oilers lost 3-2 at home to Anaheim in a 10-round shootout.

At 10 p.m. ET, the Ducks are back home after their marathon shootout win to host Calgary, which lost 2-1 at Los Angeles on Thursday.
