MONTREAL (CP) - Canadiens defence prospect Mathieu Carle will be out eight weeks with a sprained ligament in his left knee while blue-liner Andrew Archer suffered a broken cheek in a fight.
Both players were injured during the Canadiens 3-2 overtime victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Monday night.
Archer, a minor-league defenceman, was hurt in a fight with Penguins enforcer Georges Laraque in the first period. He left the ice bleeding heavily in the right eye area. He spent the night in hospital for tests and treatment.
