Guerin to attend Flyers camp @NHL
Bill Guerin, the only player in NHL history to score 20 or more goals with seven different teams, will try to make the Philadelphia Flyers No. 8.

The 39-year-old right wing has signed a tryout contract with the Flyers and will try to make the team out of training camp. If he makes the Flyers, they would be his ninth team in 19 NHL seasons.

"Bill has been a very good player for a long time in our League," Flyers GM Paul Holmgren said. "We are happy to have him in camp."

Guerin has been skating with Flyers players at informal workouts for the last two weeks at the team's practice facility in Voorhees, N.J.

"I really thought this would be a good fit for me," Guerin told "Besides the logistics for my family and personal things, this is a good fit for me hockey-wise and probably the best out there with a chance to win. I'm in the twilight of my career and I want to win."

Guerin had 21 goals and 45 points in 78 games for the Pittsburgh Penguins last season, moving his career totals to 429 goals and 865 points in 1,263 games with the Devils, Oilers, Bruins, Stars, Blues, Sharks, Islanders and Pens. He's won a pair of Stanley Cups, with the 1995 Devils and 2009 Penguins.

With the departure of Arron Asham, the Flyers lack veteran depth at right wing. Danny Briere and Claude Giroux played there last season, but both are natural centers.

The Flyers hope Guerin can accomplish what Blair Betts did a year ago, when he came to training camp on a tryout contract, made the team as a fourth-line center, and earned a two-year contract this summer.
