I love grocery shopping and I always have.
Ever since I was a little girl, going to the grocery store with my dad was my favorite activity. To this day, my dad and I grocery shop together at least twice a week, it's our weekly father daughter date. I love picking out ingredients that I will transform into nourishing meals for my body.

Although I feel completely at home in the grocery store, this is not the case for a lot of people.
A lot of my friends, and people I have talked to, find the grocery store extremely overwhelming. They enter the store and their brain is instantly filled with uncertainty and anxiety. At the grocery store there are so many options that it can be very hard to stay focused and make healthy choices.
Because of this, I have put together a 'Beginners Grocery List for Healthy Eating,' which I use on a weekly basis.
This list allows me to always have healthy options throughout the week. All of these items can be used for snacking or as component of a yummy, nutritious meal. You can pick and choose from the list based on your likes and needs, it's a starting point for you so you can have a game plan entering the store.
As far as meats go, I only buy what I know I will be making for dinner that week.
Since I follow a primarily plant based diet, I always have lots of veggies, nuts and certain fruits in the house. I always have turkey meat and sliced steak in the fridge for snacking.
My biggest rule when shopping is looking for foods that are unprocessed and organic.
Stay tuned for my top 5 recipes using this list next week. Happy shopping!
