Goulet scores second hat trick of season as Drakkar down Rimouski 4-2 @NHLdotcom

The Rimouski Oceanic have been hot, but Guillaume Goulet was hotter.

Goulet scored his second hat trick of the season as the Baie-Comeau Drakkar ended the Oceanic's five-game winning streak with a 4-2 victory on Friday night in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

Goulet is on a five-game point streak, with nine goals and 10 points since Oct. 8. The Laval, Que., native opened the scoring with his 10th of the season less than four minutes into the game.

Goulet completed the hat trick in the second period as the Drakkar (4-10-1) built a 4-0 lead. Goaltender Nathan Dunnett came within five minutes of his first shutout of the season before Jakub Culek scored a power-play goal for the Oceanic.

Elsewhere in the QMJHL it was: Chicoutimi 4 Quebec 2; P.E.I. 7 Cape Breton 4; Rouyn-Noranda 4 Gatineau 1; Acadie-Bathurst 4 Halifax 2; Shawinigan 6 Lewiston 3; Val-d'Or 4 Moncton 3; and Drummondville 5 Montreal 3.

At Rimouski, Que., Marc-Olivier Mimar had the other goal and Gabriel Bourque added two assists for Baie-Comeau.

Jordan Caron scored with less than two minutes to play in his first game since suffering a broken collarbone during a Canadian world junior summer camp scrimmage to pull the Oceanic (8-4-3) within two.

Dunnett finished with 28 saves, while Rimouski netminder Matthew Dopud stopped 18 shots.


Sagueneens 4 Remparts 2

At Quebec, Nicolas Deschamps had two goals and an assist to lead Chicoutimi past the Remparts.

Antoine Roussel and Gabriel Vermette added goals for the Sagueneens (7-5-4).

Dmitri Kugryshev scored both goals for Quebec (10-3-3).


Rocket 7 Screaming Eagles 4

At Sydney, N.S., Brandon MacLean and Joel Champagne both scored twice as P.E.I. defeated the Screaming Eagles.

Benjamin Casavant scored on a penalty shot and added two assists for the Rocket (9-6-2), while Chris Doyle and Jarrad Struthers also scored.

Stephen Horyl, Viktor Hertzberg, Luke Adam and Nick MacNeil found the net for Cape Breton (8-6-2).


Huskies 4 Olympiques 1

At Rouyn-Noranda, Que., the Huskies scored four times with the man advantage to power past Gatineau.

Pier-Luc Giguere, Jerome Gauthier-Leduc, Jeff Desjardins and Jean-Sebastien Berube all scored for Rouyn-Noranda (10-5-3).

Alexandre Quesnel had the lone goal for the Olympiques (11-4-0).


Titan 4 Mooseheads 2

At Bathurst, N.B., Eric Faille scored a hat trick as the Titan handed Halifax its eighth straight loss.

Julien Tremblay also scored for Acadie-Bathurst (7-7-3).

Tomas Knotek and Alex Lemieux replied for the Mooseheads (1-14-1).


Cataractes 6 Maineiacs 3

At Shawinigan, Que., Philippe Paradis scored twice as the Cataractes doubled up on Lewiston.

Charles-Olivier Roussel, Antoine Houde-Caron, Dave Labrecque and Pierrick Martel also scored for Shawinigan (7-6-2).

Francis Beauvillier, Billy Lacasse and Pier-Olivier Morin scored for the Maineiacs (8-7-0).


Foreurs 4 Wildcats 3

At Val-d'Or, Que., Maxime Sauve led the way with a goal and two assists as the Foreurs upset Moncton.

Olivier Archambault, Marco Scandella and Keven Guerette-Charland also scored as part of a four-goal first period for Val-d'Or (5-10-2).

Scott Brannon, Pierre-Marc Lessard and Matt Brown replied for the Wildcats (10-5-2).


Voltigeurs 5 Junior 3

At Montreal, Drummondville scored four goals in the third period to top the Junior.

Philippe Lefebvre, Gabriel Dumont, Ondrej Palat, Sean Couturier and Marc-Olivier Vachon all scored for the Voltigeurs (12-1-1), who have won five in a row.

David Stich, Guillaume Asselin and Pier-Antoine Dion replied for Montreal (7-8-0-1), which is on a six-game losing streak.
