MISSISSAUGA, Ont. - Veteran forward Jared Gomes set up all four goals to power the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors to a 4-2 victory over the Peterborough Petes Friday night in the Ontario Hockey League.
The 20-year-old Gomes assisted on goals by Jordan Mayer, Casey Cizikas, Corey Bureau and defenceman Cameron Gaunce as the Majors improved their season record to 27-22-1-2. Gaunce also had two assists in the game.
"I don't know how to explain it but I'm just doing the best I can," said Gomes, who scored the only Mississauga goal on Thursday night in a 3-1 loss to the Petes and had a five-point night, including three goals, last Saturday in a 7-4 win over the Plymouth Whalers.
Gomes now has 25 goals and 17 assists in 51 games this season. His goals, assists and points are all personal single-season bests in his OHL career.
Tony Romano and Liam Heelis scored for the Petes (21-31-0-2).
Mississauga had 36 shots at Peterborough netminder Ryan Daniels. Mississauga rookie goalie JP Anderson made 27 saves.
