LAS VEGAS -- Vegas Golden Knights general manager George McPhee has set his own NHL trade deadline: the end of the day Monday.
"Midnight Eastern Standard Time would be ideal, but we'll see," McPhee said Monday. "But we'll be done with discussions tonight."

McPhee has been talking to teams about trades as he prepares for the NHL Expansion Draft. He received the lists of available and protected players at 10:30 a.m. ET on Sunday and has until 10 a.m. ET on Wednesday to submit his selections. But he said he plans to pick his team on Tuesday.
Those picks will be unveiled during the 2017 NHL Awards and NHL Expansion Draft presented by T-Mobile Las Vegas on Wednesday (8 p.m. ET; NBCSN, SN).
"What we've told everyone today is that [Monday] will be the last day that we're going to have those discussions, that we are going to pick our team [Tuesday]," McPhee said. "We want to have a discussion with the League [Tuesday] night about what our team is going to look like to make sure we meet all the requirements, and then if everything's OK, I'll sleep on it and then just send it in Wednesday morning."
Asked if any deals were done, McPhee said: "No. We have things lined up, but nothing is final until everything's final."
