Golden Knights Earning League-Wide Praise

The Golden Knights are actually good.
Or something like that?
Entering the season, there weren't much external expectations for this team. After all, the Golden Knights are an expansion team, and not one first-year squad in the modern era has finished with a .500 record.
Vegas' 5-1-0 start has certainly turned some heads. Although with this being an extremely small sample size in an 82-game regular season, there are still many that expect this team to tumble.
Who considers this team's success something of a mirage. And not the hotel on the north side of the Strip.
The Golden Knights received some league-wide credit, however, on Thursday morning. With Vegas holding the second-best record in the Western Conference behind the Los Angeles Kings, NHL.com recognized the Golden Knights' successes in their weekly power rankings.

The NHL's power rankings are unscientific, yes. Although they attempt to gauge all factors - how a team is playing, its record, expected performance, etc. - to rank the league's teams from 1-31 on their potency right now.

For the first time, the Golden Knights' cracked the NHL's top 10 this week, just ahead of the Calgary Flames and behind the St. Louis Blues. Vegas was ranked ahead of expected powerhouses such as the Washington Capitals, Nashville Predators, Anaheim Ducks and Edmonton Oilers.
This is to say that while many experts still don't think the Golden Knights are as strong as the team's record suggests, that there's starting to be some acknowledgement that this team is far better than expected.
