SASKATOON - Colton Gillies scored a pair of goals to lead the Saskatoon Blades to a 3-1 victory over the visiting Edmonton Oil Kings in Western Hockey League action on Tuesday night.
Gillies gave the Blades a 1-0 lead after the opening period, with neither team scoring in the second. All of the goals in the final period came on the power play.
Derek Hulak scored what proved to be the winner 4:13 into the frame for Saskatoon (6-11-1-0), with Gillies adding his second of the night at 13:29. Ondrej Fiala earned assists on both of Gillies' goals.
Brett Breitkreuz scored at 6:28 for the Oil Kings to cut the deficit to 2-1.
Alex Archibald stopped 27 shots in net for Edmonton (8-8-1-2), while Braden Holtby made 26 saves for the Blades.
Saskatoon converted two-of-six power-play chances and the Oil Kings scored once on three opportunities.
