Gibson 49 saves, Rieder two goals as rangers beat Otters 5-1 @NHLdotcom

KITCHENER, Ont. - John Gibson turned away 49 of 50 shots as the Kitchener Rangers defeated the visiting Erie Otters 5-1 on Friday in Ontario Hockey Legaue action.

Tobias Rieder scored twice for the Rangers (42-22-2), who are winners of their last three, while Ben Fanelli, Tyler Randell and Cody Sol had a goal apiece.

Ryan Murphy chipped in with four assists.

Connor Brown scored the lone goal for the Otters (10-51-6), who have lost seven games in a row.

John Paul Cesario stopped 33 shots in a losing effort.

Kitchener went 2 for 5 on the power play while Erie failed to score on three chances with the man advantage.
