Giants with one game of WHL final berth after 4-1 win over Cougars @NHL

PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. (CP) - Tyson Sexsmith stopped 24 shots and the Vancouver Giants took a commanding lead in the Western Hockey League Western Conference final with a 4-1 win over the Prince George Cougars on Tuesday.

Kenndal McArdle, Wacey Rabbit, Lance Bouma and Spencer Machacek scored to put the Giants in position to sweep the best-of-seven Western Conference final series, with Game 4 Wednesday in Prince George.

Vancouver, the defending WHL champion, has won 13 straight road games in the playoffs dating back to last spring.

Jared Walker scored the lone goal for the Cougars.

Real Cyr faced 28 shots in the Prince George net. The Cougars were 0-6 on the power play, including five fruitless chances in the first period.
