Just two days after selecting 30 players in the Expansion Draft to serve as the first Golden Knights, Vegas Golden Knights general manager George McPhee laid the foundation for the franchise's future with 12 selections in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft in Chicago.
While most of these prospects won't make their NHL debuts for at least a year or two, they'll become the backbone of the franchise as the team looks to grow from an expansion team to a perennial playoff contender.
So, who are these young Golden Knights? Here's some fun facts about all of Vegas' draft selections:

Cody Glass,Forward
Selected in the first round (sixth overall)
Height: 6-foot-2
Weight: 178 pounds

About Cody:
- Led Portland Winterhawks (WHL) in points in the 2016-17 season with 94 (32 G, 62 A) and assists with 62 in 69 games played
- Represented Team Canada at the 2017 Under-18 World Championship, getting 3 points (2 G, 1 A) in three games played
-Went to high school with Golden Knights prospect Keegan Kolesar, acquired in a trade with the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for the 45th overall pick in the 2017 NHL Draft

Nick Suzuki,Forward
Selected in the first round (13th overall)
Height: 5-foot-11
Weight: 183 punds

About Nick:
- Led Owen Sound Attack (OHL) in points during 2017 OHL Playoffs with 23 (8G, 15 A)
- Represented Canada at the 2016 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament, getting three points (1 G, 2 A) in four games
- Won William Hanley Trophy in 2017 as the most sportsmanlike player in OHL

Erik Brannstrom,Defenseman
Selected in the first round (15th overall)
Height: 5-foot-9

- Had six points (1 G, 5 A) in 35 games played with HV 71 (Swedish Hockey League) in the 2016-17 season
-Won a silver medal with Sweden at the 2016 World Under-18 Championship

Nicolas Hague,Defenseman

-Led all Mississauga Steelheads (OHL) defensemen in goals (18) and points (46) in 65 games played during the 2016-17 season
-Had 107 penalty minutes in 2016-17, the fifth-highest total in the OHL
-Won Bobby Smith Trophy as OHL Scholastic Player of the Year in 2016
Jake Leschyshyn,Forward
Selected in the second round (62nd overall)
Height: 5-foot-11
Weight: 189 pounds

About Jake:
-Had 40 points (17 G, 23 A) in 47 games played during 2016-17 season and finished tied for second on Pats with two shorthanded goals
- Won a gold medal with Canada White at 2015 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge
