Generals use special teams to take series lead over IceDogs after 2-1 victory @NHLdotcom

OSHAWA, Ont. - Special teams led the Oshawa Generals to a 4-1 win and a 2-1 series lead over the Niagara IceDogs in the OHL Eastern Conference semifinals.

Defencemen Eric Regan and Ryan McGinnis scored power-play goals for Oshawa, and the Generals killed off two five-on-three advantages Niagara had in the game.

Jordan Foreman did score Niagara's lone goal on the power play, but the IceDogs failed to connect on five other opportunities with the man advantage.

Kevin Baker and Kory Nagy also scored for the Generals, who scored twice in the final minute of the first period to take a lead they wouldn't relinquish.

Michal Neuvirth made 30 saves in goal for Oshawa, while Sebastian Dahm made 34 stops for Niagara.

John Tavares and Regan each had two assists for the Generals.

Game 4 of the series in Tuesday in St. Catharines.
