Gaunce scores shootout winner in Bulls' 3-2 victory over Brampton Battalion @NHLdotcom

BELLEVILLE, Ont. - Brendan Gaunce scored in regulation and the only goal in a shootout as the Belleville Bulls won 3-2 over the Brampton Battalion on Saturday night in Ontario Hockey League action

Garrett Hooey also scored for the Bulls (5-4-0) while John Chartrand faced 42 shots in the win.

Brett Mackie and Zach Bell scored for Brampton (5-3-0) while Matej Machovsky made 22 saves in a losing effort.

Belleville opened the scoring late in the first period. With 45 seconds left, Gaunce stripped Bell in the Brampton zone before firing a snap shot low to the stick side of Machovsky.

Brampton didn't take long to tie things up in the second frame. Mackie found himself all alone in front of the Belleville net after the puck took a funny bounce off a dump in.

Belleville retook the lead on Hooey's goal that came off letting a long slap shot go just after getting a pass stepping across the blue line.

Brampton tied things up once again at the 6:33 mark of the third when Bell let a hard slapper go from the blue line that found its way off the post and in.

Marcus McIvor looked to have the overtime winner but Belleville caught a break and it was called back on goalie interference.
