The Red Wings skinny: Detroit rolls into Vegas feeling good with a 3-1 mark after a win in Arizona on Thursday night. The Red Wings roster features veterans such as Mike Green, Henrik Zetterberg and Niklas Kronwall. Dylan Larkin, Danny DeKeyser and Anthony Mantha represent the future. GM Ken Holland has been working to retool on the fly and the roster looks much better this season.
The Vegas skinny: The Golden Knights are among the hottest teams in the NHL with a 3-0 record. James Neal has five goals in three games and goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury has been consistently strong. Fleury was named second star of the NHL last week and has been just as effective this week. Coach Gerard Gallant has been preaching team work and effort and his group has bought in. They play as a five-man unit, the forecheck is aggressive and the breakout has been simple but effective. Reilly Smith and Pierre-Edouard Bellemare have been excellent on the penalty kill. The power play picked up a goal in Tuesday's win over Arizona and has moved the puck well in all three of the club's games. After the Red Wings - it's a 4 p.m. start at home against Boston on Sunday.
