Game 2 Postgame quotes: Nicklas Lidstrom

by Compiled By
NICKLAS LIDSTROM: Yeah, a little bit. He's a tough man. He got up there again, and he played a few sets after that. It's good to see he came back.

Q.  How have you been able to shut them out two games in a row? Is it the forwards backchecking a lot?

NICKLAS LIDSTROM: Forwards coming back, helping out, really helps the "D" to stand up. They have so many skilled players, they have to make plays. But [Red Wings goaltender Chris Osgood] has been coming out big for us, making some big-time saves when needed too.

Q.  (Question off Microphone.)

NICKLAS LIDSTROM: He skated real well. Looked like he is handling the puck real well. Sometimes you lose that a little bit. But his timing, I think, was on and his carrying ability was good. He had a strong game for not playing six games.

Q.  You guys have been scoring a lot right away, getting things going. Does that pressure make the other team change up their strategy a little bit with the early deficit?

I don't think they're not going to change their strategy. You have to go into offense a little bit more when you're behind a goal or two. I think that's been one of the keys, when you get that first goal, you want to continue to stick with your game plan. But you're still pressing to get that goal.

Q.  What's it like playing defense in front of a goalie as hot as Ozzie?

We're confident with the way he's playing. He looks confident. And he's real calm too. And the way he comes out and plays the puck, helping out the "D" out there all the time, it makes our job easier.

Q.  Crosby and Malkin, can't get anything going. Do they look frustrated the way you've been out there?

I don't think they look frustrated. No, they're still trying hard. We're trying to have the forwards come back real hard against them. Take their time and space away, especially around the blue lines. And we've been able to do that. We need to give a lot of credit to the forwards, how they're coming out helping out.

Q.  How do you keep the puck away from Ozzie?

NICKLAS LIDSTROM: Especially when you're shorthanded, try to be in the lanes and play big in the lanes. But Ozzie came up big with it when needed, too. We need him to play as well as he has been so far.
