REGINA - Brendan Gallagher scored a goal and an assist to lead the Vancouver Giants to a 4-1 win over the Regina Pats in WHL action Friday night.

Taylor Makin, Matt Bellerive and Jordan Matinook also scored for Vancouver.

Regina?s lone goal came from Andrew Rieder.

After a strong start to the season Regina (13-12-11-1) is struggling with five losses in six games.

The win marks the third in the last four games for Vancouver (17-10-1-1).

Scoring for the Giants was Makin with his fifth of the year.

After that it was all Vancouver.

Early in the third Bellerive scored the eventual game winner when he knocked in a Cain Franson rebound.

Less than a minute later Martinook struck with his 16th of the season. Assisting were Gallagher and Anthony Ast.

Gallgher then finished the Pats off with an empty-netter with a minute and a half to go. Assisting was Marek Tvrdon, the league?s leading rookie scorer with 36 points (14 goals, 22 assists).

Making 19 stops for Vancouver was Adam Morrison, who came into the game tied for most wins at 16 with Saskatoon?s Andrey Makarov and Portland?s Mac Carruth.

Regina goal Matt Hewitt made 21 saves in defeat.
