CRANBROOK, B.C. - Gaelen Patterson scored a goal and added an assist as the Saskatoon Blades edged the Kootenay Ice 3-1 in WHL action Sunday night.

The Ice (21-20-2-4) opened the scoring with their only goal of the game when Kevin King buried his 12th of the season on a two-on-one feed from Tylan Stephens to make it 1-0.

The Blades (32-11-3-1) tied in the second on Josh Nicholls' sixth of the year after he was credited with the goal when a Charles Inglis shot went off the cross-bar and bounced off Nicholls skate and into the net.

Jyri Niemi scored the game-winner 36 seconds into the third when he fired a shot from the slot that beat Ice netminder Nathan Lieuwen. Patterson added an empty-net goal to seal the win for the Blades.

Saskatoon goalie Adam Morrison stopped 31 shots to get the win while at the other end Lieuwen turned aside 30.
