The second overall pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, Landeskog has recorded 392 points (170g/222a) in 550 career regular-season games. He has more goals than any other player from the 2011 draft, has the second-most points (Nikita Kucherov, 405) and was the first member of that draft class to appear in 500 games. He has 11 points (7g/4a) in 13 career playoff contests.
Landeskog is halfway through his eighth NHL season and his seventh as team captain after being named to the role on Sept. 4, 2012. Only six other current NHL players have served as captains of their respective teams for a longer period of time. He was the youngest captain in NHL history at the time of his appointment at 19 years, 286 days, 11 days younger than Sidney Crosby (19.297 on May 31, 2007).
Last season, Landeskog captained the Avalanche to a 47-point turnaround, tied for the fourth highest in NHL history, and a berth in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. He went on to lead the Avs with four goals and seven points during the 2018 postseason. In his second season as team captain, 2013-14, Landeskog helped lead the Avs to a record-tying 52 wins and the franchise's first division title since 2002-03.
Landeskog won the 2012 Calder Memorial Trophy as the NHL's top rookie after finishing tied for first among rookies with 52 points (22g/30a) in 82 games. He was the second NHL rookie to ever surpass 20 goals and 200 hits in a season, joining Dion Phaneuf with Calgary in 2005-06. His 20 goals also led the team, the first teenager in Avalanche/Nordiques franchise history to pace the team in goal scoring.
At the international level, Gabriel has represented Sweden at the 2014 Olympics, the 2016 World Cup of Hockey, three IIHF World Championships (2012, 2013, 2017), the 2011 IIHF World Junior Championship and the 2009 IIHF World Under-18 Championship.
Off the ice, Landeskog has been Colorado's nominee for the King Clancy Memorial Trophy in each of the last five seasons (leadership and humanitarian contribution). Some of his community highlights include serving as a group ambassador for "Friends," a global anti-bullying effort based in Stockholm.
