LOS ANGELES - The Los Angeles Kings signed goaltender Jonathan Quick and defenceman Davis Drewiske to three-year contract extensions Friday.

Quick's deal is worth US$5.4 million.

Quick, 23, has emerged as the top man in the Kings goal, starting nine of the team's 10 games this season and 50 of the last 60 overall.

The six-foot-one, 223-pound native of Milford, Conn., began the day tied for second in the NHL with six wins, posting a 3.01 goals-against-average and a save percentage of .893.

Last season, he was third among NHL rookie goaltenders with 21 wins, a 2.48 GAA, .914 save percentage, four shutouts and 44 appearances.

A third-round pick, 72nd overall, in 2005, Quick was in the final year of his current contract. He attended the U.S. Olympic men's hockey team orientation camp in August.

Drewiske, 24, is in his second NHL season, posting a goal and two assists in 10 games. He leads the team with a plus-6 rating.

The six-foot-two, 222-pound native of Hudson, Wis., appeared in 17 games last season, recording three assists and 18 penalty minutes.
