CALGARY - Austin Fyten his first goal of the Western Hockey League playoffs at 2:37 of overtime to lead the Lethbridge Hurricanes to a 4-3 win over the Calgary Hitmen on Friday night.
With the win, the Hurricanes head back to Lethbridge with a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven Eastern Conference final. Games 3 and 4 of the series will be played at the Lethbridge Enmax Centre on Tuesday and Wednesday nights.
Zach Boychuk had two goals and an assist for the Hurricanes, while Adam Chorneyko also scored.
Brett Sonne set up Bostjan Golicic for his first-ever WHL playoff goal in the first period before scoring to give the Hitmen a 2-1 lead in the second.
After Kyle Bortis scored a power-play goal to put the Hitmen up by two goals at 14:54 of the middle frame, Boychuk scored his second of the game and 11th of the playoffs for the Hurricanes 31 seconds later.
In the third, the Hurricanes pressed hard to tie the game and their hard work paid off as Boychuk set up Chorneyko for his first goal of the playoffs to tie the contest at 3-3 with 3:58 left in regulation.
Lethbridge goalie Juha Metsola stopped 24 shots to pick up his 10th win of the post-season. Meanwhile Dan Spence made 33 saves, including 17 in the third period, in the losing cause.
