Funk scores winner late in third as Kamloops Blazers edge Lethbridge 2-1 @NHLdotcom

KAMLOOPS, B.C. - Ryan Funk had the third period winner to give the Kamloops Blazers a 2-1 Western Hockey League victory over the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Saturday night.

Jordan DePape also scored for the Blazers (26-25-6), while goaltender Jon Groenheyde stopped 22 shots.

Carter Bancks had the lone goal for Lethbridge (16-34-5), which has lost eight in a row. Brandon Anderson turned aside 32.

Prior to the game, the Blazers honoured Kurtis Mucha, who broke the WHL career record for appearances by a goaltender when he played in his 234rd regular-season game Friday in Spokane. That broke the record that had been held by Kyle Moir (Swift Current Broncos, 2002-07).

Last month, Mucha set Canadian Hockey League and WHL records for career minutes played by a goaltender.

The Blazers also saluted centre C.J. Stretch, who set a franchise record for career games played in that Friday game. That was his 325th game with the Blazers, and broke the record that had been held by defenceman Aaron Gionet (1998-2003).
