OTTAWA - Matthew Kang and newcomer Colt Kennedy each scored two goals and set up two more Sunday to lift the Kingston Frontenacs to a 7-3 rout of the Ottawa 67's in Ontario Hockey League action.
The third member of their line, Mitch Lebar, who arrived in Kingston along with Kennedy in a trade from the Barrie Colts last week, added four assists to help the Frontenacs rebound from an 8-3 blowout loss to Peterborough in their previous game on Friday.
James Marsden, Andris Dzerins, on the power play, and Jesse Brown also scored for the Frontenacs (7-19-4-2). Mavric Parks made 31 saves in goal.
It was just the Frontenacs' second win in nine games since Doug Gilmour took over as coach from general manager Larry Mavety. Their previous victory came in Gilmour's first game in charge, when they beat the Belleville Bulls 5-4 in overtime on Nov. 21.
"He's been telling us every day the win will come, just keep our composure, keep working hard, and it showed today," Kang said. "I think this win was for him. He deserved it and it's about time we did something for him."
Logan Couture and Corey Cowick each had a goal and an assist for the 67's (15-14-0-2). Rookie Pieter Schinkelshoek also had a goal and Chris Perugini stopped 33 shots.
