BRAMPTON, Ont. - Derek Froats and Jamie Lewis scored goals 15 seconds apart in the first period to erase an early 1-0 deficit as the Brampton Battalion defeated the visiting Barrie Colts 4-1 on Sunday afternoon in Ontario Hockey League play.
Blake Clarke had a goal and two assists for the Battalion (5-4-4), who have won three of their last four outings, while Patrik Machac rounded out the scoring with a single goal.
Matej Machovsky made 24 saves for the win.
Aaron Ekblad put the Colts ( 9-3-1) on the board with a power-play goal less than two minutes into the game, as his one timer from the point made it through through traffic.
Froats tied the game at 13:25, sneaking a shot by goaltender Alex Fotinos. Lewis quickly made it 2-1 when he scored off a rebound.
Machac made it 3-1 on the power play with just nine seconds remaining in the first, jamming home a loose puck at the side of the net.
Clarke chased Fotinos from the net with a power-play goal with less than six minutes to play in the second.
Fotinos allowed four goals on 25 shots before being relieved by Mathias Niederberger, who stopped each of the 13 shots that he faced.
The Colts have now dropped back-to-back games, but still sit first in the Eastern Conference.
???It???s exciting to get a win against the top team in the Eastern Conference,??? said Clarke. ???Definitely a confidence builder for us.???
Brampton capitalized on 2-of-3 opportunities with the man advantage while Barrie went 1-for-6 on the power play.
