Friday's QMJHL roundup @NHLdotcom

The Victoriaville Tigres struck a blow in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League's standings Friday night.

Brandon Hynes and Emmanuel Boudreau both had a goal and an assist as the Tigres downed the Drummondville Voltigeurs 5-2 in QMJHL action. Victoriaville is now in sole possession of first place in the Central Division with 74 points, two ahead of Drummondville.

The Tigres have now won twice in a row. The Voltigeurs had won two straight before the loss.

Before Friday night's game the teams were separated by tie-breaks with the Voltigeurs holding the advantage with three games in hand.

The rivals will meet twice more this season on Feb. 17 and 20.

Elsewhere in the QMJHL it was Cape Breton 4 P.E.I. 2; Saint John 5 Halifax 4 (SO); Shawinigan 3 Lewiston 2; Acadie-Bathurst 2 Baie-Comeau 0; Chicoutimi 1 Gatineau 0 and Rimouski 5 Val-d'Or 3.

At Victoriaville, Que., Joel Champagne had his 27th for the Tigres (36-17-2), while Keven Dupont and Philip-Michael Devos also tallied.

Olivier Hotte and Marc-Olivier Vachon replied for the Voltigeurs (35-15-2).


Screaming Eagles 4 Rocket 2

At Charlottetown, P.E.I., Luke Adam had the winner and added an insurance empty-netter as Cape Breton doubled the Rocket.

Marc Bourgeois and Stephen Horyl also scored for the Screaming Eagles (31-18-5).

Josh Currie and Adam Polasek had markers for P.E.I. (29-20-6).


Sea Dogs 5 Mooseheads 4 (SO)

At Halifax, Tomas Jurco scored in regulation and had the only goal in the shootout as Saint John had a close call with the Mooseheads.

Nicholas Petersen had a pair of goals for the Sea Dogs (43-8-1), while Michael Kirkpatrick tied the game with 42 seconds left in the third period.

Tomas Knotek opened scoring for Halifax (11-37-5), while Gabriel Desjardins, Carl Gelinas and Brent Andrews also chipped in.


Cataractes 3 Maineiacs 2

At Lewiston, Maine, Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Philippe Paradis scored the game winner as Shawinigan edged the Maineiacs.

Olivier Ouellet had a goal and an assist for the Cataractes (27-20-7), while Michael Bournival also tallied.

Michael Chaput and Matthew Bissonnette both scored in the third period for Lewiston (18-32-3).


Titan 2 Drakkar 0

At Baie-Comeau, Que., Francois Lacerte stopped 30 shots as Acadie-Bathurst blanked the Drakkar.

David Gilbert and Eric Faille provided the offence for the Titan (20-30-5).

Nathan Dunnett made 20 saves for Baie-Comeau (16-33-4).


Sagueneens 1 Olympiques 0

At Chicoutimi, Que., Robin Gusse made 25 saves as the Sagueneens shut out Gatineau.

Antoine Roussel provided all the offence for Chicoutimi (20-24-8).

Maxime Clermont stopped 19 shots for the Olympiques (25-22-5).


Oceanic 5 Foreurs 3

At Val-d'Or, Que., Ryan Kavanagh scored twice as Rimouski sailed past the Foreurs.

Felix Lefrancois had a goal and an assist for the Oceanic (26-21-6), while Alexandre Mallet and Marc-Andre Levesque also tallied.

Alexandre Touchette had back-to-back goals for Val-d'Or (19-29-6) and Samuel Morneau added a single.
