Nicola Riopel made 35 saves for Moncton as the Wildcats beat the Drummondville Voltigeurs 4-2 on Friday to win their Quebec Major Junior Hockey League semifinal 4-1.

Daniel Pettersson, Ted Stephens, Allain Saulnier and Brandon Gormley, into an empty net, also scored for Moncton.

Gabriel Dumont and Remi Blanchard replied for Drummondville, while Jake Allen made 15 saves in defeat.

The Wildcats now await the winner of the other semifinal, which the Saint John Sea Dogs lead 3-1 after Friday's 6-1 win over the Victoriaville Tigres.

At Drummondville, Que., the Volitgeurs trailed 2-1 after the first before Blanchard tied things three minutes into the second.

Saulnier scored the eventual game-winner for the visitors at 17:38 of the middle period, before Gormley iced the game and series into an empty net at 19:29 of the third.

Moncton finished 0-for-2 on the power play, while Drummondville was 0-for-3.

Sea Dogs 6 Tigres 1

At Victoriaville, Que., Nicholas Pard scored twice as Saint John grabbed a 3-1 lead in their semifinal with the Tigres.

Michael Kirkpatrick, Mike Hoffman, Stanislav Galiev and Chuckie Schembri had the other goals for the Sea Dogs, who can close out the series in Game 5 on Saturday.

Emmanuel Boudreau replied for the Tigres.
