Francis has hat trick and shootout winner in Portland's 4-3 win over Thunderbirds

PORTLAND, Ore. - Chris Francis had a hat trick and added a goal in the shootout to lead the Portland Winterhawks over the Seattle Thunderbirds 4-3 in Western Hockey League play on Saturday night.

Francis notched two power play goals and his third with less than a second left in the game for Portland (14-7-0). Jacob Berglund also scored in the shootout.

Seattle (4-12-4) got goals from Jeremy Schappert, Sena Acolatse, and Brad Haber.

Portland was 2 for 4 on the power play, Seattle was 1 for 2.

Thunderbirds goalie Calvin Pickard made 31 saves, while Kurtis Mucha stopped 29 shots.
