Four points from King leads Kootenay to a 6-3 win over the Cougars

CRANBROOK, B.C. - Kevin King had the game-winning goal and three assists to lead the Kootenay Ice to their fifth straight victory, a 6-3 win over the Prince George Cougars in Western Hockey League action Friday night.

Prince George (7-8-0-0) built a 2-0 lead in the first period on goals scored five seconds apart by Dana Tyrell and Parker Stanfield.

The Ice responded with five straight goals, including King's game-winner on the power play, when he one-timed a pass from Tylan Stephens.

Stephens added a goal of his own, while Hayden Rintoul, Dominik Pacovsky, Matt Fraser and Drew Czerwonka also scored for Kootenay (8-5-1-3).

Brett Connolly scored the Cougars' other goal.

Nathan Lieuwen made 19 saves for the Ice, while Prince George netminder Kevin Armstrong stopped 32 shots.
