Foucault scores twice as Hitmen down Tigers 5-2 in WHL semifinal opener @NHLdotcom

CALGARY - Kris Foucault scored twice to lead the Calgary Hitmen to a 5-2 win over the Medicine Hat Tigers in their Western Hockey League Eastern Conference semifinal opener Friday night.

Brandon Kozun added a goal and an assist for the Hitmen, who rebounded from a 3-1 deficit in their first-round series to oust the Moose Jaw Warriors in seven games. Del Cowan and Joel Broda also scored, while Tyler Shattock chipped in with a pair of assists.

Jace Coyle and Tristan King replied for the Tigers, who beat the Kootenay Ice in six games in their opening-round playoff series.

Calgary goalie Martin Jones made 15 saves to record his fourth straight post-season victory, while his Medicine Hat counterpart Tyler Bunz stopped 24 shots.

The series will resume on Sunday in Calgary.
