Fortier's shootout winner denies the Remparts a record as Rimouski wins 2-1 @NHLdotcom

The Quebec Remparts were one shot away from tying a 32-year-old record. Unfortunately for them, the shot was taken by Olivier Fortier of the Rimouski Oceanic, and he scored.

Fortier put the puck past Charles Lavigne in the fourth round of the shootout to hand the Remparts their first road loss of the season, a 2-1 decision in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action Saturday.

Quebec (11-2-0-1) began this season with seven straight road victories, one shy of the QMJHL record of eight, set by the 1976-77 Cornwall Royals. The Moncton Wildcats are also undefeated in seven road games to start this season and will attempt to tie the record in Saint John, N.B., on Sunday.

Sebastien Piche opened the scoring for Rimouski (10-5-0-0) with a power-play goal in the first period. Jonathan Audy-Marchessault replied for the Remparts midway through the second.

In other QMJHL action Saturday, it was: Victoriaville 4, Lewiston 2; Rouyn-Noranda 4, P.E.I. 3; and Drummondville 6, Acadie-Bathurst 1.

At Rimouski, Que., Keven Veilleux and Philippe Cornet also scored in the shootout for the Oceanic, while Kelsey Tessier and Mikhail Stefanovich found the net for Quebec. Audy-Marchessault's shootout effort in the fourth round was stopped by Rimouski netminder Maxim Gougeon, setting the stage for Fortier's winner.

Gougeon stopped 29 shots for the win, while Lavigne made 41 saves in a losing effort.
