Former NHL forward Todd Ewen dies at 49 @NHLdotcom

Todd Ewen, a forward who played 11 seasons in the NHL and was a member of the Montreal Canadiens’ Stanley Cup-winning team in 1993, died Saturday at age 49. His death was announced by one of his former teams, the St. Louis Blues, on their Twitter account.

Ewen made his NHL debut with the Blues in 1986-87 and also played for the Anaheim Mighty Ducks and San Jose Sharks before retiring in 1997. He finished with 36 goals, 76 points and 1,914 penalty minutes in 518 NHL games. Ewen did not have a point in 26 playoff games, including one game in the Canadiens’ run to the Cup in '93.

He moved back to St. Louis after his retirement and was active in coaching youth hockey. Ewen joined Saint Louis University’s program as an assistant in 2008 and took over as coach one year later.
