Foot surgery for Flyers' Carter @NHLdotcom
Philadelphia Flyers center Jeff Carter, out for 3-4 weeks with a broken bone in his foot, will have surgery to repair the injury Friday.

"He will have a screw inserted to aide the healing process," said Flyers GM Paul Holmgren. He added the surgery will not change Carter's recovery time.

Carter injured the foot last Sunday when he blocked a shot against the Atlanta Thrashers. The puck broke a bone in the arch of his left foot.

Carter leads the team with 33 goals and 60 points, but the injury ended his consecutive games played streak at 286 games, third in club history.
