CALGARY - A case of food poisoning involving Spokane Chiefs players has forced the WHL to postpone the club's next two games.

The WHL announced Saturday that Spokane's games Saturday at Tri-City and Sunday at home against Kelowna have been rescheduled. The Chiefs will host the Rockets on Monday, then play the Americans on Tuesday.

"It is difficult to be 100 per cent sure, but all symptoms indicate that it is highly likely that this represents a case of food poisoning with our players," Spokane team doctor Dr. P.Z. Pearce said in a statement.

Added Chiefs GM Tim Speltz: "Obviously the health and well being of our players is the No. 1 in these situations. Unfortunately with this illness we are unable to ice a team for (Saturday) or (Sunday). We appreciate the co-operation of the Tri-City Americans and Kelowna Rockets."

The Chiefs said tickets for Sunday's game will be honoured Monday night or can be exchanged for any of the Chiefs' playoff games.
