Defenseman Travis Sanheim, the Philadelphia Flyers' top pick in the 2014 NHL Draft, signed an entry-level contract with them Thursday. Terms were not disclosed.
Sanheim came to training camp with the Flyers and played in their 5-4 win against the Washington Capitals on Monday, and had two hits and one shot in 18:08 of ice time. He was reassigned to his junior team, the Calgary Hitmen of the Western Hockey League, on Wednesday. He had two assists in two games for the Hitmen before joining the Flyers for camp.
Sanheim, 18, had five goals, 29 points and a plus-25 rating for the Hitmen last season, his first in the WHL. He also had six assists in seven games for Canada at the 2014 World Junior Championship.
