Sean Couturier will miss the start of training camp for the Philadelphia Flyers because of an upper-body injury.

The 29-year-old center didn't play after Dec. 18 last season and had back surgery Feb. 11. Couturier
said on Sept. 12
that he was "feeling good" and expected to be a participant when Philadelphia begins training camp Thursday.
The Flyers said Couturier is week to week and will be reevaluated during camp.
"I had a long recovery," Couturier said. "(It) took longer than I thought, a lot of ups and downs, but now I'm feeling good and ready to go. Excited to get going again."
The Flyers were 12-12-5 (.500 points percentage) in 29 games with Couturier last season. They averaged 2.66 goals per game and allowed 3.17 goals per game. Without him, they were 13-34-6 (.302), averaged 2.51 goals per game and allowed 3.81 goals per game.
Couturier was a first-round pick (No. 8) by Philadelphia at the 2011 NHL Draft. He has 460 points (180 goals, 280 assists) in 721 regular-season games and 22 points (10 goals, 12 assists) in 39 Stanley Cup Playoff games.
