General Manager Paul Holmgren
suffered multiple broken bones and other injuries when he fell riding his bicycle Monday in southern New Jersey.
Holmgren, 55, was riding in the beach town of Avalon, N.J., when he fell off his bike, breaking his shoulder and ribs and suffering cuts on his leg and arm. He is being treated at Cooper Medical Center, in Camden, N.J.
According to CSNPhilly.com, Flyers players and personnel have visited Holmgren to check his condition.
"He's in a lot of discomfort but he's upright," said scout Bill Barber
. "It's more upper-body injuries than anything.
"He said he wasn't sure what happened except he lost control (of the bike). That was the end of it until he woke up and they (medical personnel) were cutting his clothing from him."
"It appears that he might have hit a rut or something as he was biking in Avalon," Flyers President Peter Luukko said. "I know Paul, he's pretty fast on that bike so he probably went over pretty hard. The good news is that it's certainly nothing life-threatening and we'll have him back."
Through the Flyers' public relations department, Holmgren said he is "sore, but otherwise in good spirits."
