Flyers get even with Rangers @NHLdotcom

The Philadelphia Flyers defeated the New York Rangers 4-2 in a preseason game at Wells Fargo Center on Tuesday.

On Monday, the Rangers defeated the Flyers 6-3 at Madison Square Garden.

Matt Read had two assists and an empty-net goal Tuesday, and Wayne Simmonds contributed a goal and an assist for the Flyers, who were playing their third game in three nights. Sean Couturier and Nicklas Grossmann also scored for Philadelphia.

Carl Hagelin scored a shorthanded goal for the Rangers 4:47 into the game, and 19-year-old Anthony Duclair made it 3-2 when he scored 36 seconds into the third period. Duclair has a goal in three consecutive games.

Ray Emery made 24 saves, and Claude Giroux played 16:53 in his preseason debut for the Flyers, who complete their schedule Thursday at the Washington Capitals and open their regular season on the road against the Boston Bruins on Oct. 8.

Cam Talbot allowed three goals on 22 shots for the Rangers, who host the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday.
