Flyers defenseman Coburn out with injury vs. Devils

by Mike G. Morreale

PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Braydon Coburn will not play against the New Jersey Devils after sustaining a lower-body injury, according to Flyers general manager Ron Hextall.

The 29-year-old defenseman had not missed a game since March 30, 2013, when he was out 15 games with a separated left shoulder.

In a 2-1 loss to the Boston Bruins in the Flyers' season opener on Wednesday, Coburn played 20:02, took three shots and was plus-1. Coburn did not participate in the Flyers' optional skate Thursday morning.

It appears Nick Schultz, who took pregame warmups, will replace Coburn in the lineup.
