Lindros, Flyers partner for "All In Challenge"

Eric Lindros was named an ambassador with the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday, and he's excited about his first project with his former team.

The Hockey Hall of Famer, who spent his first eight NHL seasons with the Flyers, will participate in the ALL IN Challenge, a fundraiser for COVID-19 hunger relief.
Lindros' role will continue when the season resumes. It has been on pause since March 12 due to concerns surrounding the coronavirus.
"Senior adviser
. All money raised will go toward hunger relief charities Meals on Wheels, No Kid Hungry, America's Food Fund, World Central Kitchen and Feeding America.
"Few players in Flyers history inspire as much excitement and passion among the fanbase as Eric Lindros, and during this unprecedented time those positive feelings are exactly what we want to deliver to our fans," Camillo said. "This ambassadorship with Eric has been in the works for quite some time, and we made the decision to kick it off right now, not only as a special engagement for our fans but even more importantly as an integral way to assist those impacted by COVID-19."
Lindros lives in Toronto but is looking forward to more time in Philadelphia through his new role.
"It's good to come back and see some old friends," he said. "John LeClair is still in the area, there are a few other guys that you pop into. It's good to get back a lot more."
Trips to Philadelphia also will allow Lindros and his wife, Kina, to show their three children the Lindros No. 88 banner that hangs in Wells Fargo Center. It's taking more meaning as the kids -- 5-year-old Carl and 4-year-old twins Ryan and Sophie -- have started to play hockey and are learning about their dad's career.
"We had to have a little chat about contact," Lindros said. "We had that early on. YouTube is good for a lot of things but that stuff not so much. We're having some fun."

Hockey dad might be the deepest Lindros gets involved in the game, outside of his pickup sessions with friends in the Toronto area. Among the former NHL players who join him are Darcy Tucker, Tomas Kaberle, Rob DiMaio and Steve Thomas.
"You take a job, if you're broadcasting or scouting, you've got to be 100 percent in," Lindros said. "You can tell when you're watching a game and [the broadcasters] haven't done their homework when they're talking between periods. You don't want to be that person. Same way if you're a scout, offering an opinion when you haven't seen it all. There are people that have been in it and gone through the ranks, have been at it for decades and put in their time. I think that you just don't pop in and turn on a switch."
For now, his top priority is helping the kids keep up with their schoolwork. Carl is in kindergarten and the twins are in junior kindergarten.
"They love school," Lindros said. "Keeping their butts in a chair for anything more than an hour though is unheard of. But we're having some fun with it. They have Zoom chats with their classmates and we have math books and reading stuff that we do. They're putting their letters together and getting their math basics. It's trying to come up with fun ways of doing it. That's the hard part. Smarties seem to work."
