Flyers acquire D Syvret from Edmonton @NHLdotcom

PHILADELPHIA (AP) -The Philadelphia Flyers acquired defenseman Danny Syvret from the Edmonton Oilers on Friday for forward Ryan Potulny.

Syvret has an assist and 12 penalty minutes in 26 NHL games over two seasons.

"Danny is a puck-moving defenseman that sees the ice well and will improve our depth," Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren said. "He had some success playing with (Flyers) Jeff Carter and Mike Richards at the 2005 World Junior Championship as a member of the Team Canada.

Potulny had one assist in seven games for the Flyers this season. He also had 21 goals and 47 points for the Flyers' American Hockey League affiliate, the Philadelphia Phantoms.

"Ryan was a good player for our organization, but this was a deal based on a need, as we added depth to our defense," Holmgren said.
