Troy Brouwer

Troy Brouwer agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the Florida Panthers on Monday.
Financial terms were not released.

The 33-year-old forward had 22 points (six goals, 16 assists) in 76 games last season with the Calgary Flames, who bought out the remaining two years on his contract Aug. 3.
"I'm really excited," Brouwer said. "What happened to me in the last couple of months was maybe a little stressful, but me and my family flew out for a while. We've been spending the better part of the last few weeks trying to find a team and a city that would be a great fit for me on the ice as well as the family off the ice.
"When the opportunity arose to come to Florida and play for the Panthers, we were really excited about it, just the fact that it's a phenomenal young team, a great place to live and something that my family is really looking forward to."

Brouwer has 341 points (169 goals, 172 assists) in 763 NHL games with the Flames, St. Louis Blues, Washington Capitals and Chicago Blackhawks. He has 34 points (15 goals, 19 assists) in 102 Stanley Cup Playoff games and helped Chicago win the Cup in 2010. Panthers general manager Dale Tallon was Blackhawks GM that season.
"He's built this team over the past couple of years kind of with the same model that was in Chicago," Brouwer said of Tallon. "I remember us bringing in guys like John Madden and bringing a few older guys in to help out with the younger guys, bring a little bit of experience and kind of push the team over the top, and I'm hoping that I can be one of those guys. Me and Dale go back a long ways. I really respect Dale and what he's done and how he conducts himself in everything. We didn't talk a ton over the past couple of years, but now that I'm with the Panthers, I'm pretty sure that we'll have a good relationship, good conversations again."
Brouwer was a seventh-round pick (No. 214) by the Blackhawks at the 2004 NHL Draft.
"Troy is a skilled veteran forward with championship experience," Tallon said. "He adds depth to our forward group and his leadership will help our developing young core take the next step this season."
