Florida Panthers defenseman Mike Matheson did his part Wednesday to help those affected by Hurricane Irma.
Matheson volunteered at free food trucks, preparing and serving food outside BB&T Center in Sunrise, Florida.
More than a 20 food trucks parked outside the arena to prepare hot and cold meals. The trucks offered lunch options for three hours during the afternoon and dinner for three hours in the evening. They will return for lunch and dinner sessions Thursday.
Matthew Caldwell, the Panthers president and CEO, and Shawn Thornton, the Panthers' vice president of business operations and a former teammate of Matheson's, joined with the food-prep efforts. Thornton also helpedraise money for the relief efforts in Boston on Sunday.
