Flames start tough trip in Detroit @NHLdotcom
The Calgary Flames start off what figures to be a busy holiday week when they come to Detroit in one of four games on Sunday's NHL schedule.

It’s the first of a five-game trip for the Flames, who go from Detroit to New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh -- all within a seven-day span. Calgary comes to Joe Louis Arena on a high after a 7-2 whipping of Chicago at home on Friday. The Wings play the finale of a six-game homestand in which they've gone 4-0-1 -- but are coming off a 4-3 overtime loss to Minnesota on Friday.

The Flames-Wings game is one of two that gets under way at 5 p.m. ET. In the other, the New York Islanders will be trying to avoid a team-record 13th consecutive loss when they visit Atlanta. Loss No. 12 came Saturday night when they were beaten 4-1 by Florida on Long Island. The Thrashers had a day off after routing Washington 5-0 at home on Friday.

At 8 p.m. ET, the struggling Edmonton Oilers, 4-3 shootout losers at home to Phoenix on Friday, visit Anaheim. The Ducks have dropped four in a row, including a 4-3 decision to Columbus on Friday.

One hour later, Vancouver will try to atone for Saturday's 7-1 home blowout loss to Chicago when it hosts the Coyotes, who've won five in a row.
