FTBK-HiDow-Nutrition

This week I talked to Leo Gibson, HiDow International's Athletic Director, about my favorite topic, nutrition.
When it comes to nutrition, I always like to focus on fueling my body first. It's important to be in constant communication between you and your body by paying attention to how the things you eat make you feel. This obviously varies for every individual, but I have found that following a high fat, low carb diet is extremely effective and beneficial.

I play around with these ratios, but normally my meal is mainly healthy fat (avocados, eggs, etc.), a lean protein (salmon, chicken or turkey), and carbs from veggies. Just like Leo and I discuss in the video, focusing on this breakdown of eating is extremely beneficial.
By following this general guideline, you will find it is easy to maintain the 80/15/5 formula.

Tomorrow I dive into my journey and my personal philosophy on filling myself up with nothing but the good stuff #fillyourselfup
It's more about inclusion rather than exclusion. The only exclusions are processed sugar and grains. This may sound daunting, but there are so many natural sweeteners that you can easily substitute - such as coconut sugar, dates, monk fruit, etc.- that can easily satisfy your sweet tooth.
Especially looking into the new year, this is a perfect time to test out new eating habits.
I always try to give any change in my life at least 21 days to test out.
If after three weeks you choose to try something else, that is perfectly OK, but I have yet to meet someone who has adopted this eating style and looked back.
In the coming weeks, I will be sharing my favorite recipes that follow this eating style.
I'd love to hear your feedback!
