Filip Forsberg Named NHL's First Star of the Week

Two hat tricks and eight goals in a four-game, one-week span earned Filip Forsberg First Star of the Week honors, the NHL announced Monday.
The Nashville Predators winger, who became the first Preds player to record eight goals in four consecutive team games, guided his club to a 3-0-1 mark during the week. Following up on a hat trick versus the Calgary Flames on Tuesday, Forsberg netted another three-goal game on Thursday against the Colorado Avalanche. On Saturday, the 22-year-old Swede registered his third-straight three-point game with a goal and two assists. Finally, last night's 5-4 win for Nashville over Edmonton featured Forsberg's ninth goal of the month, which is tied with Viktor Arvidsson and Chicago's Patrick Kane for most in the League in February.
"He's definitely a gifted player," Preds center Ryan Johansen said of Forsberg following Thursday's game. "Every night is a privilege to play with those guys. He keeps impressing me, and I'm sure everyone else watching. He's really an elite player, and he's a huge part of this organization and this hockey club if we're going to be successful."
On a larger scale, Forsberg also has 21 goals in his past 32 games, which is good for tops in the NHL.

"I don't know if [Forsberg] can sense an actual goal-scoring run, but visibly being in the building or behind the bench where I stand, you can sense when somebody is on their game," Nashville Head Coach Peter Laviolette said earlier this week. "I believe that players like Filip, that have the ability to get the puck off their stick, can release it quickly and are good at what they do. It's just a matter of time before they're on top of their game."
