Festarini earns first OHL shutout with 2-0 win over Majors @NHLdotcom

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. - Christopher Festarini turned away 14 to shots to earn his first OHL shutout as the Niagara IceDogs blanked the host Mississauga St. Michael's Majors 2-0 on Sunday afternoon in Ontario Hockey League action.

Tom Kuhnhackl and Joel Wigle both scored for the IceDogs (47-18-3), who head into the post season as the top seed in the Eastern Conference after winning their fifth straight contest.

The Majors (33-28-7) had their five-game winning streak halted after being shutout for the fourth time this season. They will enter the playoffs as the sixth seed in the East.

Spencer Martin stopped 46 of 48 shots, earning the game's first star, in a losing effort.

Niagara's top-ranked power play failed to score on three chances with the man advantage while Mississauga went 0 for 1 with the extra man.

The IceDogs will open the playoffs against the eighth-seeded Oshawa Generals while the Majors will kick off the post season against the third-ranked Barrie Colts.
